"A life well lived, a job well done."

Today the Bowerbird would like to remember with love and gratitude Louise Hopkins Underwood who passed away Tuesday evening, March 7th. The Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHCUA) serves as the center of the First Friday Art Trail, one of Lubbock’s best attended activities. The vast LHUCA exhibition spaces are celebrating 20 years of art this year, thanks to Louise’s vision for the arts in Lubbock. Artists and the community of Lubbock owe much to the generous patroness of the arts, and will miss her dearly as her legacy lives on through the programs, spaces, and events that began through her pioneering spirit. In the words of her dear friend, Charles Adams, Louise had “a life well lived, and a job well done.” Indeed.
