Jim Bob Swafford Exhibit at LCU
The February 23 reception for the exhibition has been postponed due to inclement weather. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
Lubbock Christian University is exhibiting work by western artist Jim Bob Swafford, beginning Monday, February 23, 2015. The show, Spirits of the Heart, features oil on canvas paintings of subjects related to the West and Southwest. Swafford, an LCU alumnus (class of 1961), is a member of the Western Art Rodeo Association, and his work has been featured in Western Horseman magazine and on the cover of Rocky Mountain Rider magazine. He has participated in juried and invitational art exhibitions throughout the U.S., including Artists of the West in Colorado Springs, Top 100 Exhibit: Arts for the Parks in Jackson Hole, and Artists West of the Concho in San Angelo. His art has also appeared in print media, such as Images of the American: the Nations Calendar and Leanin’ Tree® greeting cards. Swafford’s bold use of color and light reflects the stark West Texas climate in which he’s lived most of his life.
The Spirits of the Heart exhibition, which runs through April 24, is located in the LCU Art Galleries in the Diana Ling Center for Academic Achievement. An opening reception for the exhibit is scheduled for Monday, February 23, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to noon. The campus and galleries will be closed during spring break, March 16-20
